Welcome to the 2015-2016 CCAC Winter Grand Prix, eight races running Sundays through December and January followed by a potluck gathering that beats any race you’ve ever been to!  This year’s excitement starts on December 6th at the home of George Graeber in Orleans and ends up at the 19th Hole in Hyannis on January 31st.

Even if you can’t run, bring along the whole family, help out, and enjoy the party.  You must be a paid up member in good standing of CCAC to participate in the Grand Prix series and runners and walkers of all abilities are welcome.  Also, you must have run a minimum of FIVE of the possible nine events to win an award. The top five times you run will count as your score in the final standings. Ties will be adjudicated by official race scorers. Grand Prix and CCAC awards will be given out at the annual banquet on February 6th and will be presented for 5 year age groups, clydesdale/filly, and walking categories.  All races start at 11:00AM (except for the Cape Cod Road Runners Winter Fun Run with a 10:30 start!) and are $10 for runners and $10 for guests.  Bring all the friends you can find but you have to be a paid up member to race and earn points for series awards.

Team Challenge! Don’t run by yourself every race – join a team! The rules are simple: teams consist of 3+ in men’s, women’s and mixed divisions.  Signup for a team on race day and as long as you get at least 3 people signed up with the same team name, we’ll score you in the competition.  You can only be on one team per race, scoring will be cross-country style, and team-hopping is permitted … but not recommended.

Mark your calendars, for you don’t want to miss these competitive but friendly social events. Where else can you run, eat, drink and party on a winter Sunday for only $10.00? One additional thing — please bring a dish or some goodies to take some of the burden off the host or hostess for George’s, Conrad’s, Kurt’s, YPD, and the 19th Hole races. Directions will be provided on the website a week before the race and at the previous weekend’s race.  See you there!

Volunteer Points! Earn extra points as a volunteer! We know it’s wet and sloppy and you don’t get to the food until it’s all gone so to show our appreciation, volunteers will get 5 points for each race worked this year instead of run. Just be sure to sign in on the race sheet and put a big “V” next to your name. See the volunteer coordinator for an assignment … and no cheating – we’ll have Bob Edwards checking up on you!

Contributor Points! New this year! Submit an article for publication on the website and if it’s accepted and published, we’ll give you 5 points towards your overall score! Articles can be about the Grand Prix or about running, triathlon or fitness in general and should be submitted to ccac@capecodathleticclub.org prior to January 24th.

WALKERS! You’ll be timed separately and starting early so that you make it back before the goodies are gone. Be ready to start at 10:30AM at all races!
