Fwd Jim Meehan to Nantucket Runners:

You are invited to participate in Nantucket’s annual Swim Across America event.  There will be a 4-mile Swim on August 19th, and the main event will be on Saturday, August 26th at 8:00 am which includes distances of 1/4, 1/2 and 1 mile.

Over three hundred swimmers participate and raise funds to support Nantucket cancer care. The funds raised go directly for cancer care at the Nantucket Cottage Hospital (NCH) and Palliative and Supportive Care of Nantucket (PASCON).   The Cottage Hospital oncology nurse is funded by the swim along with the travel expenses to bring oncologists on Island to treat cancer.  To date over $1,400,000 has been raised and this year’s ambitious goal is $375,000.  Swimmers need to raise a minimum of $200.00 to participate.

If you choose the 4 mile option on August 19, the fundraising requirement is $4,000.

This is your chance to give back to the Island that hosts our Brant Point Runners races.  The local Nantucket Triathlon Club has a team which would welcome you joining.  Please consider

participating or contributing and visit the event website: www.swimacrossamerica.org/Nantucket.   If you are interested in the four mile swim please email jmeehan207@gmail.com or jamespignato@gmail.com.
