Rich Havens, director and owner of Time Out! Productions of Plymouth, recently announced the end of the very popular We Gather Together 5K Run & Walk. Founded in 2001 as a fun run and grocery-raiser for the Sandwich Food Pantry, the event has reached a field of over 2,000 participants in recent years and has raised an estimated 35,000 groceries. After 14 years, Rich has decided to step down as director and producer of the race and devote time to other personal adventures. While the Sandwich Thanksgiving morning run tradition is no more, at least for now, We Gather fans are encouraged to contribute to the Sandwich Food Pantry by dropping items at their facility, by mailing a check to PO Box 1824, Sandwich, MA 02563, or by donating on-line. In lieu of the Sandwich race, local runners are encouraged to visit the other numerous turkey trots: the Chatham Turkey Trot, the Provincetown Pilgrim Trot, and on Saturday, the Andrea Holden Road Race.
