The club will resume first Wednesday monthly meetings at the Dennis Senior Center on September 4th at 7:00pm. An agenda will be published a few days prior to that date.
Sprint Triathlon II at Craigville Beach will be held on Saturday, September 7th. Without Limits Productions is offering volunteers who work at packet pick-up on Friday afternoon and evening half-price entry into the race the next day, or the usual donation of $25 per worker to the club. Similarly, workers on race day can opt for discounted entry next year, or a donation to the club.
On Sunday, September 8th, the Hero Triathlon will be held at Johns Pond in Mashpee. There is a large number of CCTT entrants in the relay, many of whom will have raced Craigville Beach the previous day. This event supports women veterans, and is also seeking 15-20 volunteers — out of the goodness of your hearts. I plan to be there because of its purpose, and having done the Run to the (Plymouth) Rock half marathon the day before, would not be running the Mighty Meehan 5K anyway, but a lot of CCAC runners will be. The website, courtesy of Dwight Pfundstein, is http//capecod.herotri.com/capecod.php.
The annual end-of-summer club gathering at the beach will be held on the afternoon of Sunday, September 15th at Mayflower Beach in Dennis. Bring food and drink, beach chairs, frisbees, etc. Look for the club canopy.
Recently the Board of Directors approved donations of $200 each to Gene Cormier and Katie McCully to support their trip to London to participate in the World Triathlon Championships.
Anticipating that the requests for club waivers for next year’s Boston Marathon will exceed the club’s allocation, I urge those members who received waivers this year, but were not allowed to finish the race, to avail themselves of the BAA’s special entry offer, which has a limited time period. Last spring the members voted to adopt a process and criteria for awarding the waivers in future, and information about that will be published soon.

This week (Friday, Aug. 16) we meet at 5:45pm at the South Orleans Post Office, Route 28 (near the intersection with Rt. 39). This is a particularly beautiful course: narrow trails, ponds, rivers, even some running of the beach. Distance will be settled on depending who shows up, but figure about 5 miles. Faster runners turn around from time to time to meet the slower runners and re-group. Contact Howard Tansey
