Season’s Greetings and Happy Holidays. In particular, Merry Christmas and Happy New (running) Year.

Thanks to our hard core running members, especially those who adjusted to the location change for the race scheduled for Chapin’s. The first three Grand Prix Series races were successfully completed and the post-race gatherings enjoyed by all. Remember, for our next race, at the Yarmouth Police Station, please bring a food item, but no alcohol. We will probably not have any issues with police at this race.

Miscellaneous factoids:
– Our next Club meeting is January 2nd.
– The race at Weary Travelers race starts at 10:30.
– There will be a GP Series race on January 27th; details to follow later. Thanks to VP Howard Tansey.
– Annual awards banquet flyers were available at Hawksnest and Chapin’s, and will be available at the rest of the races. If anyone is familiar with the Somers-Frost Band, Night Train, or The Total Strangers, and their suitability as a dance band for our banquet, please contact me. The Total Strangers have been known to play at the Chatham Squire.

One More Mile,
Larry

There will be a special BPR 5K New Year's Day Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at 10 AM. Unofficial BPR continues every Saturday at 8:30 AM with no times recorded with about a half dozen runners showing up. Daylight savings begins March 10, 2013 with weekly BP runs starting Tuesday, March 12, 2013 5:30 PM. Happy Holidays! Bob.

Although the Winter Grand Prix is on break for the holiday weekend, you can still get the adrenaline flowing with a group run on Saturday. Assuming we survive the 21st of December, Susan Eastman has organized an informal 2.8 mile fun run on Saturday morning at 9:00AM at Veterans Beach in Hyannis. Festive attire is requested although not mandatory. Since the winter solstice officially occurs at 6:12AM on Friday morning, you can call this a 26h42m delayed solstice run, a ‘hurray, I survived the end-of-the-world’ run, a happy-elf run, or perhaps a ‘help! I’m being chased by zombies!’ run. Whatever you call it, join Sue and the rest of the holiday bunch at 9AM on Saturday.

Hey Guys,

I just released my 1st e-book, Pro to Pro: My Journey From Professional Ice Hockey to Professional Endurance Sports.  I just thought I’d let you know in case you wanted to pass it on to the club.  In the book I detail the principles that I learned while playing ice hockey and applied those same principles to make the transition to pro triathlete.  You can download it for free here.  Hopefully other athletes can use these principles to help become the best athletes they can be.  Happy Holidays!

Due to problems with the Town of Dennis, this coming weekend’s Grand Prix run, originally destined for Chapin’s Restaurant on 16 December, has been moved. We will now be meeting on Spruce Road in Harwich, just north of Hawksnest State Park. The course will be confirmed over the next few days and posted as soon as we have it. Plan on a little bit of asphalt and a little bit of dirt fire road, and a distance of about 5K. Please park along the sides of the road and pull off as far as possible so you’re not blocking any of the residents. After the run, we’ll adjourn to Chapin’s for the post-race watering and feeding. Start time is still 11AM.

Still looking for that perfect holiday gift? How about a membership to CCAC? You can sign up your friend, neighbor, parents, family, or even complete strangers by mailing in the application or signing up on-line. In addition to some serious motivation, they’ll then be able to join us for the Winter Grand Prix, participate in our summer triathlon training events, earn miles and goodies in the USAT National Challenge Competition, and more!

kates-quiltsNeed something more tangible to stuff a stocking with too? How about a t-shirt quilt from Kate Naples? When she’s not running up and down mountains, Kate builds great quilts out of old race shirts, your unused curtains or any other fabric that happens to be laying around.

For the readers on your present list, put them in for a free subscription to LevelRenner, the region’s new on-line running magazine or send them a year of New England Runner.

And nothing wraps it up like some club gear. The web site doesn’t stay up-to-date with what the kit coordinator happens to have on hand so it’s best to come to a Grand Prix race or e-mail Jane Lovelette to find out what’s current, what’s on sale, and what’s coming in the door next.
