Bayside Runner and South Shore Race Management Announce the Myles Standish Marathon and Marathon Relay.
Bayside Runner and South Shore Race Management have announced that they will be bringing the first full distance 26.2 mile Marathon and Marathon Relay to the Town of Plymouth. The event will take place on Sunday, November 18th, 2012 beginning at 8:00 am.
Both events begin at College Pond at DCR Myles Standish State Forest and will end on Long Pond Road in front of Bayside Runner. The first 15 miles of the course will take place entirely within the State Forest. This portion of the course is fully paved but has several rolling hills, offering runners a challenging beginning to the event. Once you leave the State Forest you will find yourself on the back roads of West Plymouth, passing cranberry bogs and farms. The first unpaved section of the course begins around mile 20 as you enter Morton Park. There is another section of pavement before you get back on the dirt roads through to Long Pond Road with the finish line right in front of Bayside Runner at 38 Long Pond Road.
The relay offers runners the opportunity to enjoy the event without one person having to endure the 26.2 miles of a full marathon. Teams of 2 to 5 runners can sign up to run sections of the course with each run ranging from 3.5 to 7.5 miles.
