Got Points?

180188_1828066904044_1311474807_32140540_6691697_nThe Grand Prix rolled through Chatham this past Sunday and we barely managed to squeak through the finish line before ocean effect deluged the bonfire. By all accounts, Big Daddy’s Cadillac Run was a huge success but we’re still looking for the live band and dancing girls that were promised. We’re also still looking for a few runners who may have got stuck in the sand or wandered off into the ocean at Cockle Cove. We never said these courses would be easy and Paulie complied by providing a chilling wind, a 1/3 of a mile on the beach, a couple of nasty hills, and a narrow bridge all within a 2.6 mile loop. Josh Curtis opened a significant but not insurmountable lead across the beach and stopped at the line in 2nd place overall, providing much needed points for Happy Trails in the team challenge. Paul Hufnagel followed, also teaming with Happy Trails, trailed by Dave Fay (BPD Blue) and Mike Sellars (Firefly). John Martin and Nick Harmansky, running for Firefly, managed to push Tyler Kane down a slot and gave Firefly a one point victory over Happy Trails for this race – but Firefly still trails Trails for the overall series lead by one point. It’s serious team racing for this Sunday! The women were led in once again by Robyn Argo and the Nauset Women Warriors took the top 3 spots with Katie McCully and Sarah Newcomb posting second and third respectively. Kayleen Rosato (Mixed Nuts) and Sarah Knop (Nauset Women) rounded out the women’s top five. Afterwards, the assemblage was treated to a garbage can bonfire and top-notch barbecue all amidst a flash snow squall. The 2010-2011 Grand Prix culminates this weekend at the home of George Graeber in Orleans with another challenging beach, boardwalk and gravel road run. Lots of run, lots of food, lots of music and fun! And be sure to check the standings – sometimes we miss somebody in the results or don’t add up the points quite right. Send an e-mail to ccac@capecodathleticclub.org if you see something erroneous or peculiar. [Big Daddy’s Cadillac Run Results] [Standings] [Scoreboard] [Grand Prix Information]
